Each traveler will depart from an International airport near the city where they live, fly to Rome, Italy, and arrive two (2) days early in Rome before the MSC SPLENDIDA embarks on our cruise. We will form our travel group at the airport in Rome, check into our hotel, and go on a guided tour of the Vatican, the Colosseum, and other sites before traveling as a group to embark on the cruise ship.
A two (2) night stay in Rome, will include a guided tour of Rome, Italy, the capital of the Holy Roman Empire, and the capital of Italy, and where Julius Caesar ruled. This city thrives with ancient ruins and mythical stories of the past. In Civitavecchia ((Rome), Our tour begins at the Colosseum. This amphitheater was a popular pastime for the Romans in 80 AD where gladiators battled against each other or different species of animals. Head to the Borghese Gallery which has an amazing collection of paintings and sculptures and is housed in the Villa Borghese. Your tour will include The Vatican, where the Pope lives. Tour through the Sistine Chapel. Your neck may hurt because you won't want to take your eyes off Michelangelo's painted ceiling. Later do what the Romans do slow down to enjoy wine and classic Italian food. At night take in the Trevi Fountain. The popular fountain has intricate details in its carvings, and many believe you should toss a coin into the fountain to ensure good luck and a return trip to Rome.
Day 3, May 13th embark the Cruise Ship MSC Splendida, for our 7-NIGHT MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE
